TGIF-A Holy Moment with our King

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.

-Isaiah 40:31King James Version

Recently I was wrestling with a time of spiritual weariness. As a bi-vocational Pastor, you can get overwhelmed with the demands of your 40-hour job, your family needs and the responsibility of being a Shepherd to the congregation God has called you to. I had hit a wall and I was just plain tired and downcast wrestling with the hurts and needs of others. I knew I needed refreshment from the hand of our heavenly father. I just did not know how or when it was going to come.

Saturday morning I was just scrolling through Facebook and came on a youtube video someone had posted in a Christian group I was part of. So being curious I opened one to listen to some young people singing hymns in a living room. I was stunned into tears at the sheer beauty of these young people worshipping the Lord in spirit and its truth. I was soon caught up worshipping our great God and King and I just broke. I wept from the wonder of God’s presence and his holiness. During these few holy moments, his spirit touched me very deeply and took my weariness away. He refreshed me in a way I did not realize I had needed. I have listened to this video more than a dozen times since then. Each time I am blessed by the Lord and reminded of his faithfulness to his children.

Are you hurting, weary, discouraged? Do you feel dry and empty in your walk with the Lord? May I urge you to seek him for all that you lack and are in need of. Learn to wait on the Lord, to spend time in his presence, in Bible reading and study, prayer and worship alone and with others. God is faithful. He will meet your needs in his time and in his way as all his ways are perfect as he and he alone is perfect in holiness.

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

In His name

Amen
